Girl talk

Being a teenager is tough sometimes. Your body is changing and your hormones are all over the place so you're bound to feel weird and get upset about stuff.

When you're feeling low, it's tempting to shut yourself away in your room. But bottling things up doesn't help and it's often better to talk to someone about how you feel. Asking questions is good too. In fact, it's the only way to get clued up on the facts, particularly when it comes to things like period pain where your biology textbooks really don't put you in the picture.

Loads of girls suffer from period pain every month so you shouldn't feel awkward or embarrassed talking about it to your Mum, your mates, your teachers or your doctor - even if they don't suffer themselves, they'll all know someone else in the same boat as you and they might be able to suggest ways to relieve the pain. Whatever you do, don't worry about getting period pain at school, work or on holiday. Just tell your mates, a teacher or the people you're going away with so they can look after you if the cramps get really bad.
